Before joining Biochromato, I worked for a staffing agency specializing in researchers, where I was dispatched to a major cosmetics manufacturer, where I was engaged in experimental work.
Although I feel that my work is rewarding, I am worried about not knowing when my temporary position will be terminated, and if the temporary position is far away, I may have to move.
When I thought about having to build relationships there again, I couldn't imagine working there for decades.
When you work while feeling anxious about the future,
An acquaintance who works in the same industry asked me, "I'm changing jobs to biochromatography. Would you like to work with me?"
I use biochromatography analysis equipment on a daily basis at work, and I only have one year left on my temporary assignment.
I thought I could put my previous experience to good use, so when my contract expired I changed jobs to Biochromatography.
Familiar analytical equipment
My job is contract analysis, which involves solving problems that customers want to know.
For example, "I would like to know the scent components of other companies' soft drinks to help me develop a new soft drink product."
"Even though I made a plastic product using the same manufacturing method, the strength has changed compared to what I made previously, so I would like to know the difference."
The requests are wide-ranging.
The equipment used for the direct analysis method that I am in charge of (our own developed product, ChemZo) is a convenient product that is simple to operate.
However, depending on the sample, there are many little tricks and techniques that need to be mastered.
Another important part of my job is to communicate this technology to customers in a way that is easy to understand.
In order to find answers in an analysis where there is no correct answer, experience, intuition, and steady effort are required.
One of the attractions of this job is being able to witness the moment when a customer's desire to know changes to "That's it!" after we arrive at the answer through trial and error.
I was once approached by a professor at a university for advice on contract analysis.
Apparently, the request was originally made to another company, but they declined because the sample size was too small.
We don't analyze in an assembly line manner, but can analyze even small amounts by measuring each one individually, so we responded immediately, saying, "It's fine."
They were very pleased and have continued to request our services ever since.
When I was invited to the professor's lab, I felt happy that he trusted me.
Work that can only be done through biochromatography
The good thing about this company is that you can do whatever you want if you want to do it on your own initiative.
When we are doing contract analysis, there are times when we think, "I wish we had a device like this," or when a customer asks, "Can you do this kind of analysis?"
